Fear? Just Dive In
Regular readers of this blog (both of you) will be aware I'm writing a book about my experience with cancer, to tell my story and to share what I learnt.
There's plenty of fear involved with writing a book: fear I won't have enough to say, fear I won't complete what I start, fear that no-one will be interested enough to read it (let alone the idea of buying it - let's not get started on that one!).
One way of dealing with fear is drawing on the lessons from your past experiences. I found one of those yesterday. I've been shuffling through my notebooks from hospital days, which I wrote in to converse with my doctors, nurses & visitors, because I couldn't speak at all.
They'd ask about medical stuff, but also a lot about my life & interests.
This is what I wrote (and "drew") to explain to my nurses about why I love doing springboard & platform diving: it continually teaches me to handle fear!
