Going Platinum
Just for the record - I'm going platinum tomorrow, taking onboard a platinum-based chemotherapy drug called Cisplatin.
For the chemists among you (I know you are out there) the formula is: H6Cl2N2Pt. In July 2005, it was 3Dchem.com's 'Molecule of the Month'. That's the big-time.
In my particular case, I've chosen to have chemotherapy to supplement the main impact from the radiation treatment. Cisplatin slows or stops the growth of cancer cells throughout the whole of my body; whereas the radiation is specific to my head and neck.
I'll have my first intravenous infusion of the cisplatin tomorrow and it'll be in my system (in my DNA) for about 6 weeks, boosted a couple more times intravenously.
If the radiation doesn't get me glowing, the platinum just might...
