Goodbye Jake
Tomorrow I'm going to have an operation to have my Jake-the-PEG removed, in one of the last parts of my treatment this year.
I've been pretty self-sufficient for the last few weeks, keeping a stable weight by normal eating, without the need for extra feeds via tube. So Jake has been redundant and can now be detached (I won't miss him, despite some memorable moments on my runs recently, with the tube poking out from my shirt out like a miniature exhaust pipe).
I've been back at work fulltime this week. It's been a good feeling to be back in amongst life at phil & teds.
The op tomorrow is to be relatively minor, with healing expected to take just a few days. Then a CT scan next week to check up on success of the treatment so far, and to provide a 'baseline' set of images for next year's scans.
Goodbye Jake...
