This week in Plastics Ward Room #3, I’ve been clocking up some new milestones and capabilities, such as “can now breathe through mouth”, “can stand up unaided” and “can speak words”.
Great perspective Nick, how significant those simple things become. They genuinely are life changing. As ever, thank you for sharing your courage with us as you lay down some anchor markers for your future self.
Thanks Paul - and yes absolutely had to track that one for fun:) the nurse had to put on my watch on my forearm above the IV line. Seemed to work alright.
It is so wonderful to hear your progress- especially when it is written by you! Thinking of you each day and hoping for the “zig zags” to become smaller and smaller.
Thanks Janine! It is good fun writing and especially with our Ward being closed to visitors, I thought it would help describe things here. The nurses helped me out on ‘which events happened when’ as it is a bit of a blur to me at the mo
Such a lot of progress in just a few days Nick - well done. It's reassuring to know you are receiving such good care, especially when there are a few scary moments to deal with. I love the way you write, looking forward to the next update. All the best, Rowena
Thanks Rowena! I love to have an excuse to write (as you know!) so I find it gives me a way for some creative fun in the days here, with a dash of healthy reflection too of course. And it’s lovely thinking of you and all the different people reading it, especially when we are visitor free at the moment.
Today the ward, tomorrow the Gooat!

Well done Nick. Little steps becoming bigger achievements. Your progress has been amazing so far. I am sure you will be up and about in no time! 👍
Thanks Antz!
As they say if it’s not on Strava it didn’t happen! Well done. Stupendous effort 👍
